How to Make Your Own Natural Home Made Toothpaste

Research have shown that most toothpaste sold at stores can actually cause tooth cavities. Usage of toothpaste has been linked to damage of teeth. However, since we need to brush our teeth at least twice daily, it is important we prepare our home made natural toothpaste which has been proven to be quite safe and healthy.

Ingredients for homemade toothpaste

To prepare your natural toothpaste, first you need is 1/2 cup of coconut oil, 3 tablespoon of baking soda, 2 small packets of stevia ( a sugar substitute) powder and around 20 drops of cinnamon or peppermint oil.

How to prepare

Mix all the ingredients with slightly molten coconut oil. Stir until the mixture becomes cool and baking soda is totally unified. Store the mixture in a glass jar and let it stay until it cools completely.

How to use

You can take the paste out with the help of a spoon and place on your tooth brush.

Damages that toothpaste bought from the store can cause

1. Most toothpaste contains hydrated silica which can damage the surface of tooth and hinder the re-mineralization process. This can lead to teeth enamel and damage to tooth cavities.

2. Some toothpastes contain artificial sweeteners like aspartame. Aspartame can increase risks of weight gain, cancer, depression, nausea and rashes. Other risks of aspartame ingestion includes Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and multiple sclerosis.

3. If you use more than peanut-sized toothpaste at a time, chances are that your teeth will darken in colour and enamel will wear away.

4. Fluoride in toothpaste can cause tooth decay. Almost all toothpastes comprise fluoride in a bid to prevent tooth decay. In case a person ingests fluoride, there are chances that your teeth might get permanently discolored. Stomach ailments and skin rashes are other side effects of ingesting fluoride.

5. Glycerine, which is a colourless and sweet and component of most toothpastes can cause tooth cavities and discolouration.

6. The kind of tooth paste we use can cause the condition of mouth ulcers and tooth sensitivity to deteriorate.
