How to Stop Diarrhea

Diarrhea is frequent bowel movement in a loose liquid form. If you constantly spend more time in the toilet than out of it, then you may have diarrhea. If left untreated for long, diarrhea can lead to other health issues including death.

Best Home Remedies to Stop Diarrhea

  1. Add Banana to Your Diet

The fiber and pectin present in banana will help fight diarrhea as these properties of banana absorb liquid. Eat bananas regularly for it helps stimulate the colleen, getting rid of the irritation. The intestine becomes free from liquid and the stools are no more watery. Consume bananas on a regular basis for fast and effective results. Alternatively, take a ripe banana and squash it well. Now, add 1 tsp of tamarind pulp to it. Mix it well after adding a pinch of salt to it. Take it twice a day and it will settle the problem of digestive system.

  1. Eat some Yogurt

Probiotics are substances filled with healthy bacteria and are good for digestion. An excellent probiotic drink is yogurt. Dairy products are strictly banned during diarrhea phases, but yogurt is an exception. It is good to increase the consumption of yogurt in order to stop diarrhea. What you have to do is have a bowl of plain yogurt daily. Yogurt is a core of healthy bacteria known as ‘live cultures’. They are known as gut-friendly bacteria. The good bacteria will ultimately take over the bad one and you will be relieved of the problem.

  1. Drink Some Chamomile Tea

Chamomile tea is rich in herbal content which helps treat diarrhea well. It is also rich in anti-septic properties that will help with diarrhea. What you have to do is prepare a tea and consume it three times daily. Take a cup of water and boil it. Now add 1 tsp of chamomile flowers and 1 tsp of peppermint leaves to it. Now allow it to steep for 15 minutes and then have it after straining.

  1. Starch from Rice Water

Rice water is also an amazing remedy for treating diarrhea. Take a bowl of white rice and boil it in three glass of water. When the rice is cooked, strain the water, allow it to cool then drink it. You can also have bowl of plain white rice.

  1. Have Some Carrot Soup

Carrot can also prove to be a great help for treating diarrhea. Eat it in liquid form by preparing soup with carrot. Take 2-3 carrot and cut it into thin slices. Now boil it in water for some time. Cover it with a lid and steep it for some time. Add a pinch of salt to taste and drink the soup. Have it twice a day to cure diarrhea.

Lime juice is one of the best home remedies for treating diarrhea. Take lukewarm water and add freshly squeezed lemon juice. Add honey for added taste and to enhance the properties. Drink it 3-4 times daily for best results.

Aloe Vera has long been known to improve digestion and  immune system. It can help treat the lost balance of the colon, which is responsible for the bowel movement. Drink aloe Vera juice 2- 3 times in a day for instant relief from diarrhea.

  1. Drink Water with Orange Peel Extract

Orange peels are also among the great options to stop diarrhea. It is effective for general stomach health. Wash the orange properly to remove the dirt and pesticides. Peel the oranges, collect the peel and chop it well. Boil half glass of water and add the chopped peels to it. Steep it for some time and add honey to it when it cools down. Drink it thrice a day to stop diarrhea.

  1. Use Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV)

Apple cider vinegar has a wide range of benefits, including being used to treat and stop diarrhea. ACV coats the lining of the colon and soothes it, for easy flow of bowels. Add 2 tsp of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water. Drink it immediately before eating anything. Continue consuming it, until symptoms stop.

  1. Ginger

The antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties of ginger can be used to stop diarrhea as well. You can consume it by preparing a tea with it. Consume the tea twice a day and you get rid of diarrhea. Do any of the following to stop diarrhea:

  • Take a spoon of honey, add equal amount of ginger powder and cinnamon powder to it and have it. Have it thrice a day for best results.
  • Take equal amount of lemon juice and ginger juice. Mix it well and add crushed pepper to it. Consume the prepared solution three times daily for best results.
  • Mash up two cloves of freshly cut ginger. Add them in boiling water and stir the mixture well. Consume the resultant solution at regular intervals for added relief from the same.
