Home Remedies for Boils on Inner Thigh

A boil on the inner thighs can be very painful and uncomfortable. Most boils on thighs, groin, buttocks, arm pits, breasts, and face are hard reddened bumps filled with pus. Boils are also known as skin abscess. A cluster of boils formed is referred as ‘Carbuncle’.

The pain caused by the boils can be severe, which in some cases is accompanied by fever and fatigue. The boils on inner thigh are called Foliculitis.

Boils are mainly caused by the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus. This harmless bacterium lives inactive in most people. Boil is formed when the bacterium infects the deeper inner tissues.

The deep skin infection which leads to boil formation is usually caused by allergic reaction to soaps, shampoos, clothing, and other skin care products. Other causes of boils in the inner thigh are chicken pox and eczema.

The treatment of boils depends on its shape and size. Usually boils on inner thigh are not a medical emergency but since the boils are puss filled, they should be treated with care to avoid spread of the infection. In severe cases, a doctor should be consulted.

Inner thighs can cause agonizing pain while walking when they rub against each other. Generally a boil will mature itself to form a white and erupt. So wait and watch it for the eruption. If it doesn’t erupt and the pain and fever (if any), doesn’t heal after a few days then immediately seek medical help. A surgical treatment, just antibiotics or combination of both may salvage the situation.

Never pick at the boil. Allow it to mature and erupt. You can apply hot compress to reduce the pain.

Some of the home remedies that are found useful in dealing with the boils on inner thigh are use of toothpaste or turmeric on the outer surface. This accelerates white head formation in most cases. Once the white head is formed and break out, clean the area with anti-fungal, antibacterial agent or apply turmeric powder to heal it dry.

Heat compress is also effective in treating boils on inner thigh. This increases circulation around the boil which helps drains the pus faster.

Make sure that skin hygiene around the infected area is maintained to avoid re-occurrences of boils on inner thigh.
