There are many home remedies that can help you to get rid of gingivitis in its early stages. Use these remedies and maintain oral hygiene for better health of your teeth and gums.
Home remedies for Gingivitis
1. Lemon juice
Lemon contains antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. The vitamin C in lemon helps to fight infections. You can use lemon to get rid of gingivitis by adding little salt to 1/4 teaspoon of lemon juice to form a paste. Brush your teeth with this paste. Alternatively, you can also add one teaspoon of lemon juice to a glass of warm water and gargle with it.
2. Baking Soda
Baking soda is perhaps one of the best home remedy for gingivitis. Its alkaline nature neutralizes acids in the mouth, thereby reduces the risk of gingivitis turning into tooth decay and gum disease.
How to use:
- Add a few drops of warm water in ⅓ of teaspoon of baking soda.
- Mix it well and keep adding drops of water until it becomes a thick paste
- Apply this paste to your gums and leave it there for a minute or two
- Repeat the process 2-3 times a day to help get rid of gingivitis and give you a stronger teeth and healthy gums.
Turmeric contains antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties. Turmeric can be used as toothpaste to massage gums.
- Add a few drops of water in 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric to make thick paste
- Massage the paste on your gums
- leave it there for 10 minutes and wash your mouth by gargling with salt water
Aloe Vera has anti-fungal and antibacterial properties which makes potent for eliminating gingivitis. It also reduces pain and gum puffiness by soothing teeth and gums. Apply Aloe Vera gel directly on the affected gums and leave it there for 10 to 15 minutes. Gargle your mouth with salt water. Repeat 2-3 times daily.
Sage has been used for centuries to combat gingivitis and other dental health problems. Get a fresh sage leaf and grind it smooth, then apply it directly. Also, you can take dried sage powder and rub it on the infected area of gum. Sage has anti-inflammatory and cleansing properties.
