5 Pains You Should Never Ignore

When you feel pain in any part of your body, don’t disregard it. Pain is your body’s natural way of telling you that something is wrong. Most people even chose to ignore these pains, hoping it would stop or resolve themselves. Don’t ignore these five pains, it could be a sign of something serous that requires urgent medical attention.

Here are 5 pains that you should never ignore:

  1. Sudden pain in the chest that is recurrent

Don’t disregard a sudden crushing feeling that you get in your chest. Apart from indicating indigestion or stress, it could also hint at severe conditions like angina or heart attack. Consult a cardiologist immediately if the chest pain lasts longer than 20 minutes or is recurrent.

  1. Painful Menstruation 

Pain during monthly menstrual flow may be considered normal but, but it becomes abnormal if the pain gets really extreme. It could indicate a painful disorder known as endometriosis where the lining of the womb starts to grow outside it. It can infiltrate the lining of the bladder, the rectum, the space between the rectum, the vagina and the bowel. Consult a gynaecologist for proper diagnosis and treatment when next you experience painful periods.

  1. Low back Pain 

If left untreated, low back pain could lead to irreversible damage of your spinal nerve. If inflammatory sprays or other topical treatments refuses to heal your low back pain, it could mean one of your discs that cushion the bones in your spines, could be pressing on the spinal nerve.   1. Leg Cramp 

If your calf is inflamed or warm to a touch, it may indicate deep-vein thrombosis (DVT) – a blood clot. When you notice this, you must avoid taking a walk to eliminate the pain or massaging the area. Blood clot is fatal, it can travel through your veins up to your lungs if it breaks free and can also cut off the oxygen supply. Your doctor may ask you to go for a CT scan or an ultrasound to check for a DVT.

You should never ignore any form of headache, no matter how insignificant. Your strenuous work input may be a harbinger for a slight headache, which may be understandable. However, severe headaches that come on suddenly even while you are at rest could point to a serious health issue like migraines and a ruptured aneurysm, also call bleeding in the brain.
